Join us at the Brooklyn Apothecary on Tuesday August 11th at 7pm for an evening exploring the world of herbal aphrodisiacs: ancient plant wisdom for modern sensuality, pleasure and connection, in collaboration with Anima Mundi.
For centuries, people around the world have turned to plants to awaken the senses, cultivate vitality, inspire creativity, deepen intimacy, and celebrate the richness of the human experience.
The word "Aphrodisiac" generally brings one thing to mind, however there is no switch to turn the body on, each plant and each person may develop a unique relationship and understanding of what an aphrodisiac means to them. Let's explore how different herbal plants and remedies can activate the body and spirit and how plants have been consumed historically and modern applications in various cultures and traditions for our pleasure and enjoyment, through ritual, tea and ancient wisdom.
The evening opens with a shamanic limpia (energetic cleansing) led by Phillia Kim Downs, inviting guests to slow down, become present, and transition from the busyness of everyday life into a shared space of curiosity and exploration.
From there, the Anima Mundi Herbals team will guide us through the world of botanical aphrodisiacs, sharing the history, traditions, and practical uses of plants while guests enjoy Anima Mundi's signature Sensuali-tea.
The experience concludes with a guided shamanic journey, offering an opportunity to reconnect with the qualities that support deeper love, authentic intimacy, creativity, confidence, joy, and self-trust—remembering that the greatest transformation begins within.

Phillia Kim Downs is the co-creator and host of LOVE.SEX.MAGICK. With twenty years of experience as a Shamanic Practitioner, she was initiated into the indigenous Andean Inkan lineage in Peru. Through storytelling, ceremony, and meaningful conversation, she blends ancient wisdom with modern perspectives to create immersive experiences exploring love, relationships, ritual, and self-discovery.
Chloe is a somatic & Thai bodywork practitioner, community builder and herbal enthusiast. She worked on a medicinal farm north of the Hudson Valley and completed a 9 month herbal apprenticeship at Raven Crest Botanicals. Chloe also studied with Amanda David of The People's Medicine School in Ithaca, NY.
