Bringing together two distinctly different creative backgrounds and genders into one eye, Constance & Eric have set out to photographically study the emotions of sexuality rather than the usual literal and visually obvious documentary style in favor today. Using their own relationship as a constant, they seek out the genuine in all facets of sexuality. With tools such as deliberately imperfect optics, unconventional lighting, and selective unfocus, Constance & Eric strip away all the trappings of modern depictions of sex. With bodies intertwined, melting into one, and lovers seemingly emerging from nothingness, the dreamlike quality in their work engages the viewer in emotional, rather than physical ways and allows the audience to momentarily assume the identities of these faceless lovers. Through these images, we are treated to the effects of sexual enjoyment that exists in the mind rather than the body. Their quest to represent all manner of sexual expression is a logically endless one, how can something so limitless be completely represented? Perhaps it is in the very effort itself that Constance & Eric open up the idea that sex acts are a ways to a means and that this means, essentially, is the one universal bond we all share.
