Technology has infiltrated almost every aspect of our lives, including sex, relationships and dating. From online dating to sexting people are incorporating their gadgets to woo and titillate their partners!
Online Dating
I did online dating for a few years, and stopped awhile ago. I personally didn't like it because most of the time it felt a little forced, and people were often extremely different than their pictures/descriptions of themselves. However, many people I know have met people with whom they had long term relationships, and a lot of people I know have even married someone they have met online.
Many of the smaller but still popular online dating sites help people looking for something very specific, for example someone of a specific religion, financial status, specific kink or age group, but the largest sites are for everyone. It can really help you meet people you would have never otherwise met, and can bring people who have similar interests together! One of my best girlfriends only wanted to date Jewish men, so she went on JDate and had a grand old time going out at least once a week with good Jewish boys, until she met her boyfriend.
It can be great, but of course there are some problems. Some people don't want to meet in person, and others may lie on their profiles. An older divorced friend (around age 50) felt that online dating was her only option at this point. She wondered where else she would ever meet someone as she didn't really go out all that much due to having to balance a full time stressful career and a 10 year old daughter. She was really unsatisfied with the results. However, my own father met his wife on Match.com after being divorced! My sister met her fiance on Craigslist (can you believe that??!!). So obviously it works for some people!
